Description:
Society for International Development (SID) is seeking a motivated and creative person to join its team as a full-time Communications Officer (Maternity Cover) to join the Civil Society Financing for Development Mechanism’s facilitation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Mechanism’s outreach and communication work to its various audiences, as well as ensuring the amplification of demands from each of its thematic workstreams. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong organizational and communication skills, a passion for economic and social justice, and experience in advocacy and campaigning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead in all communication efforts related to the CS FfD Mechanism, including updating website, implementing social media strategy across multiple platforms, and media engagement ensuring that content is consistent, engaging, and relevant.
Coordinate with communications colleagues of other organizations and social movements, when the amplification of shared advocacy messages is needed;
Organize and manage interpretation services for monthly calls
Proofread and work in layout of the FfDChronicle, and contribute to meme creation and article editing.
Lead with photo taking, video recording and editing during special FfD-related events
Manage and collaborate with designers, video editors and programmers in the development of content and/or website updates
Joining weekly internal team calls
Amplifying civil society interventions in the different spaces
Creatively campaigning for the key asks from civil society in the FfD process
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Has at least 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, advocacy, or campaigning.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience managing social media, websites, and digital communications. (Experience working with DatoCMS and Hootsuite are a plus.)
Familiarity with UN international policy processes; experience/knowledge in the Financing for Development space is a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, international environment.
Excellent writing and editing skills in English (Spanish and/or French are a plus).
Experience with quality photographing and design is desired.
Video editing and recording experience is a plus.
Availability for travel
Has excellent spoken and editorial communication skills;
Has proven experience in producing content for various communications platforms;
Comfortable with English as a working language;
Competence of the UN context and/or understanding of similar international and multicultural settings is a plus;
Professional motivation at working with Civil Society Organizations and/or social movements;
Familiar with digital platforms to support the organization of meetings and online events. (Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc)
Personal skills
Can work independently and adapt to a flexible working schedule;
Can work with tight deadlines;
Is committed, responsible and loyal to the organization and its people;
Has a proactive and patient attitude within the team;
Promotes a problem-solving attitude;

This is most likely a remote position with flexible location.
The selected person will be offered a collaboration working contract (or, if requested, a project-based/consultancy contract could be envisaged) for the period 2 March 2026 to 7 August 2026 (with flexible dates possible).Compensation will be communicated to short listed candidates and will be based on candidates’ availability for full-time employment. More detailed information will be discussed during the interviews.
