The fourth ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development (FfD Forum) was held in New York from 15 to 18 April 2019.
In her letter of 2 November 2018, the President of ECOSOC appointed H.E. Mrs. Maria Angela Zappia, Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and H.E. Mr. Lazarous Kapambwe, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations, to serve as co-facilitators of the preparation of the draft conclusions and recommendations of the 2019 FfD Forum.
Outcomes
In accordance with paragraph 132 of the Addis Agenda, the annual FfD Forum results in intergovernmentally agreed conclusions and recommendations that are fed into the overall follow-up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development.
The modalities towards a consensual outcome document of the FfD Forum are defined in General Assembly resolution 70/192. Once the consensus is reached on draft outcome document, the co-facilitators would transmit it, through a letter, to the President of ECOSOC. The draft intergovermentally agreed conclusions and recommendations are then adopted at the FfD Forum and transmitted to the HLPF through a procedural report of the Council.
Inter-Agency Task Force Report
Every year the Forum debate and decisions are informed by the Report of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IAFT) which is considered to be the major substantive input to the FFD Forum reporting on progress in implementing the FfD outcomes and the means of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
