FfD Forum 2018
The 2018 ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development follow up (FfD Forum) is scheduled to take place in New York from 23 to 26 April 2018, convened by the President of Ecosoc. The 2018 Forum has been conceived to assess progress, identify obstacles and challenges to the implementation of financing for development outcomes and provide policy reccomendations.
The co-facilitators appointed by the President of ECOSOC for the FFD Forum 2018 are: Mr. Courtenay Rattray, Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations, and Mr. Francisco Duarte Lopes, Permanent Representative of Portugal to the United Nations.
Programme
It is a four days event structured in two major segments: the ministerial and the experts segment.The ministerial segment will take place during the first two days and shall include also round tables for ministers and vice-ministers to share national policy and institutional developments in support of the implementation of the Addis Agenda, as well as challenges encountered. The experts segment takes place during the last two days focusing on all seven action areas of the Addis Agenda, and incuding dialogue with representatives of civil society and the business sector.
A special High-level Meeting with the Bretton Woods institutions, WTO and UNCTAD, has been envisaged to happen the second day on the 24th of April, including an interactive dialogue with intergovernmental bodies of major institutional stakehoders aimed to improve mutual understanding and policy coherence among the policy-making intergovernmental bodies of the international trade and finance institutions.The dialogue will focus on two themes: (i) Disaster risk and resilience; and (ii) Taxation in the digitalized economy.

Outcomes
In accordance with paragraph 132 of the Addis Agenda, the annual FfD Forum outcomes consist of intergovernmentally agreed conclusions and recommendations that are fed into the overall follow-up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development. The FFD Forum 2017 reconfirmed the consensual outcome document as modality for the FFD Forum 2018 outcome as well. According to these modalities (defined in General Assembly resolution 70/192) the co-facilitators, previously appointed by the President of ECOSOC, prepare the draft conclusions and recommendations and facilitate consultations among Member States with a view to reaching intergovernmental agreement on that draft.

Every year the Forum debate and decisions are informed by the Report of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IAFT) which is considered to be the major substantive input to the FFD Forum reporting on progress in implementing the FfD outcomes and the means of implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
