How to Invest in Integrated Landscape Management to Achieve the SDGs
Tuesday 14 July 2015, H 15:30-18:00, Intercontinental Hotel, Meeting Room 3, Addis Ababa
Without integration and coordination, finance for sustainable development will miss the mark
Integrated Landscape Management (ILM) offers a promising means of implementation of the SDGs.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will provide a comprehensive framework for action on a variety of objectives related to sustainable land use. However, the number of Goals raises the specter of increasing competition for financial resources, conflicts among Goals, capacity constraints, and potential over-exploitation of natural resources and ecosystems that underpin many of the Goals. Integrated Landscape Management (ILM)—an approach in which a group of stakeholders in a given landscape collaborate to achieve landscape scale outcomes that are critical for each of the individual stakeholders—offers a promising means of implementation of the SDGs.
