The official programme of the Third FfD Conference includes a parallel track of 6 sequential Roundtables starting on the afternoon of Monday, July 13th, with the last one on the morning of Thursday, July 16th (basically one roundtable always runs in parallel to the plenary discussion with the exception of the opening and closing sessions). Roundtables will address the following broad themes:

  • Roundtables 1, 3 and 5 will be on the theme: Global partnership and the three dimensions of sustainable development;
  • Roundtables 2, 4 and 6 will be on the theme: Ensuring policy coherence and an enabling environment at all levels for sustainable development.

Each roundtable will include two Co-Chairs, a moderator and up to four panellists. Following the initial remarks by Co-Chairs, moderator and panellists, the Roundtables are expected to be “interactive” and a list of speakers is not established. However, in accordance to UN protocol, Ministerial speakers will get to speak first and will probably read out statements at the round-table. Civil society has been allocated up to 6 speaker slots and 6 observer slots for each Roundtable. Should you be interested to nominate/apply for a speaker slot, please visit the following link:


Observers will be primarily responsible for taking notes of the discussion and possibly amplify the conversation on social media. We invite those interested in applying for the reserved CSO observer slots for the 6 round-tables to fill the following application form no later than Sunday 5 July 2015, 6PM CET:


Based on the applications received, a selection committee consisting of members of the Addis Ababa CSO Coordinating Group (ACG) will score applicants for speaking slots on the basis of the following criteria:

i. Commitment to take notes on behalf of the CSO FfD Group;

ii. Gender, geographical and constituency balance;

iii. A maximum of one speaker for single organisation (broadly understood) will be selected;

iv. Organization which have been assigned speaking slots may not obtain observer seats.

The list of selected observers will be circulated on the Global Social Economy Group (GSEG) list as soon as possible thereafter and not later than Monday, July 6th, in order for the GSEG to have a chance to raise questions about the shortlist, if deemed necessary. The final list will be submitted to the UN FfD Office on Tuesday, July 7th.

Please circulate this message as broadly as possible so that all possible interested parties, including those that are not enrolled on the GSEG list can receive this information.
